Collaboration

Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in teams and exercise leadership skills on projects.

Collaboration is the action of working with someone to produce or create something. A real estate venture requires the involvement of many players that collaborate together in order to execute the project . The development team may consist of the Developer, Engineer, Planner, Broker/Leasing Agent, Appraiser, Lender, Investor, Geo-technical Engineer/Environmental Consultant, Mortgage Broker, Citizens, Archaeologists, Market Analyst, Architect/Landscape Architect, Contractors, and Attorney. This team cohesively works together as a whole throughout every step of the development process in order to deliver a project.

Throughout my time in MLPD, I've worked on multiple group projects where I had to collaborate with my team members. Being able to effectively collaborate and communicate with your team members can be the difference between being successful or a failure. I will be able to take what I've learned from the program and translate it into the professional world on future projects.

For my LDEV 687 course, my group was given a site to conduct due diligence on to assess the financial feasibility of the project, Tarpon Pointe, in Bradenton, Florida. My group included Moises Martinez (Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Management), Mariam Harutunian (Bachelors degree in Urban and Regional Planning, and myself, with a Bachelors degree in Urban and Regional Planning as well. We utilized each of our members educational background and unique skills to complete this project.
